Long-Term Progression

What's the player working toward? Multiple interlocking systems create paths for advancement, from personal wealth to independence from Selenite Corp.

Progression overview

Extract Valuable Materials

Accumulate resources to:

  • Upgrade your vessel — Better equipment, expanded storage, faster clone bay recovery
  • Purchase premium gear — Advanced equipment for surface runs
  • Stockpile resources — Prepare for major projects
  • Reduce teleportation fees — Bulk contracts with Selenite for discounted extraction

Contract Progression

Working for Selenite Corp

Complete Selenite Corp contracts to:

  • Unlock access to restricted zones
  • Gain clearance for premium teleportation pads
  • Receive better-paying jobs
  • Access experimental equipment

But:

  • Higher-tier contracts involve morally questionable objectives
  • Corp surveillance increases
  • You start finding evidence that contradicts Corp narratives

Independence (The Long Game)

The Weyland-Yutani Problem

Selenite Corp didn't just fail to prevent the cataclysm — they likely caused it. Evidence scattered across the surface suggests:

  • Experimental lunar mining operations went catastrophically wrong
  • They knew the risks and proceeded anyway
  • They've profited immensely from humanity's desperation
  • The teleportation network gives them total control over who survives

The Alternative Path

Players can work toward breaking free from Selenite control:

  • Discover Drifter settlements — Independent communities surviving outside Corp control
  • Make contact with The Network — A hidden collective of Moonstalkers who've gone off-grid
  • Build independent extraction methods — Jury-rigged teleportation, surface-to-orbit launchers, hidden launch sites
  • Eventually break free from Selenite's fees — But lose access to their infrastructure and protection

Two Philosophies

The Choice

Two philosophies emerge:

Corporatists
Work within the system, profit from it, ignore the moral cost. Access to reliable infrastructure and premium equipment.
Free Stalkers
Harder path, more dangerous, but not feeding the machine that ended the world. Independence from Corp control.
Both are valid. Both have trade-offs. Players choose their own path.
